Search Engine

The internet is a treasure trove of information. However, it is hard to find information that we are looking for in the internet.

Search engine, such as Google, can help us in finding those information.

For example, try to find the Australia population data by putting in "Australia Population Data"

Now we want to get more specific : try putting in "Australia Population Data 2012"

On the internet, the more specific you search, the more chance that it return the information you want.

Google provide tools for us to go more specific on our search :

• the search tools bar
• the advanced search
• the search operator

Example

find articles in The Age that talks about Donald Trump in the title during the last 24 hours

Exercise

Using only the Google Advanced Search, find the latest summary (pdf) of the Australian aid budget (2016-2017).
